In 2007, Crazyhorse Indian was formed out of our previous business, Zorro’s. We identified a need for a modern, responsive online merchant specialising in antique Indian motorcycle parts, and so the Crazyhorse Indian website was launched.
Our regular contact and frequent rides—both day and weekend—with Indian motorcycle clubs in Melbourne and beyond provided us with the insight we needed to stock the right parts. With a large population of Indian motorcycles here in Australia and New Zealand, we quickly became the go-to place for Indian parts.
A solid stock range, consistent pricing, and fast responses to online queries helped consolidate our position in the market. Growth soon followed. The relatively low value of the Australian dollar, along with our contacts in the US and Europe, expanded our market even further—export sales became a key part of our business.
As time went on, we noticed gaps in the market that many US suppliers couldn’t fill. Leveraging our production engineering experience and a strong network of local toolmakers and fabricators, we began manufacturing parts that were otherwise unavailable.
We also started marketing local innovations—like twin leading shoe brakes and the 12v alternator—and before long, we were producing a wide range of components. In particular, we developed many electrical items, including tail lamps, alternators spanning from 1916 to 1953, and electric starters.
In early 2018, we acquired the patterns and rights to manufacture the 600cc Scout barrels, followed soon after by the 750cc 101 and 750cc Standard Scout barrels. This focused our attention on the 1920–1935 era of Indian manufacturing, and especially on the 101 Scout, for which we now stock every part needed to rebuild the engine and gearbox, all from our Victorian warehouse.
Fast-forward to 2025, and we now hold nearly 3,500 line items in stock, with a growing list of planned developments.
During COVID, we witnessed a sharp increase in the value of antique motorcycles—Indian models in particular. While this trend has been positive overall, it has priced some enthusiasts, especially younger ones, out of the market. As a result, we’ve turned our focus to the Indian Prince—a relatively affordable entry point for the next generation of restorers.
Of course, a challenge has been the limited availability of Prince parts, as few manufacturers support this model. To address that, we’re working with both existing and new suppliers to manufacture small batches of Prince parts, making them increasingly available through this site.
