1925 The first Prince released. No electrics (available as an option) wedge shaped tank, Splitdorf GH1 Magneto. It was of course very basic. It is interesting to note that many countries imported this bike with no electrics at all. This was done to save import duty and taxes and it is not unusual to see locally made alternatives such as Bosch, Magneti Marelli & probably even Joseph Lucas headlamps, horns, magnetos, generators and tail lamps were mounted. There were no chassis numbers with Indian until 1931 so to date your machine look at the engine number on the raised boss found on the left side of the motor under the cylinder fins.
in 1925 the serial number started out as 30Y-001and once it passed 30Y-999 the number went to 31Y-001 thereafter 32Y001 changing every thousand machines. Look for 3?Y if you see this yours is a 1925.
